ANDY WARHOL KYOTO 2022

Hello, here tsujihara. I visited "Andy Warhol Kyoto" at the Kyocera Museum of Art in Kyoto, one of the largest exhibitions of his work in Japan, with some 200 pieces on display.

This was my first visit to the Kyocera Museum of Art and it was very good as an art exhibition space. The space was very large, deep, and clean. However, the special exhibition space seemed a bit small to display Warhol's 200 works.

The exhibition content, which divides his life into five stages and introduces his works, seemed easy to understand even for those who were new to Warhol's work. On the other hand, I think the exhibit was a bit lacking for Warhol fans. For me, it was like a textbook and lacked novelty.

Glory and Transience, Eternity and Death, and these Shadows...

I think these are Warhol's key words.

The shadow of death that creeps in as the original is duplicated, the eternity that infinite times of duplication brings...His work seems to ironically admire capitalist society.

It is that "emptiness" that he draws, and what I continue to be charmed by through his work is the "unfulfillment of human life" that must have been nestled in his life.

To him, we who live in a capitalist society seem to be "living as if we were dead" or "living while obsessed with death. I continue to be strangely attracted to this solitude.

I was deeply moved by the opportunity to see all of his works at once.I felt like I was a student again and wanted to do more research on him.

Thank you, I love you.
